AfyaImara Junior is a child medical insurance product with four inpatient options from KES 500,000 to KES 5,000,000 and optional outpatient limits from KES 50,000 to KES 150,000. The brochure offers an Unlimited Panel option and a Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital only option.

How it works

Choose the hospital panel, inpatient limit and number of children. You can then add optional outpatient cover within the limit allowed for your inpatient option. The estimator uses the separate premium tables in the supplied brochure for each hospital panel, including the additional-child rates for families with more than six children.

Fees and charges

The brochure provides premium tables by hospital panel, inpatient option, outpatient limit and number of children. Premiums are payable upfront. The calculator adds the applicable inpatient premium and, if selected, outpatient premium. Confirm the final quote with Old Mutual.

Risks and important considerations

Waiting periods include one month for illness claims and 60 days for surgical claims, with additional condition-specific periods. General exclusions listed in the brochure include infertility and maternity-related conditions, cosmetic surgery unless caused by accident, weight management, self-referred treatment, alternative treatment and experimental treatment. Full policy exclusions apply.

Eligibility and how to apply

Children from birth after hospital discharge and born at least 37 weeks are eligible up to age 18. Cover may be extended up to age 21 if evidence of schooling is provided.
