Overview
AfyaImara Family Cover is an enhanced medical insurance product for families. It includes inpatient cover and can be paired with optional outpatient cover. The brochure lists inpatient limits from KES 500,000 to KES 10,000,000 and outpatient limits from KES 50,000 to KES 200,000, subject to the selected option.
How it works
Choose an inpatient option, enter the principal member age band, indicate whether a spouse and children are included, and optionally select outpatient cover. The calculator uses the age-based inpatient premium tables and family-size outpatient table in the supplied Old Mutual brochure.
Fees and charges
Premiums vary by inpatient option, age band and covered family members. Outpatient premiums vary by selected outpatient limit and family size. The calculator adds the applicable inpatient premiums and optional outpatient premium from the brochure. Confirm current premium and payment terms with Old Mutual.
Risks and important considerations
Waiting periods apply to illnesses, surgery, chronic conditions and specific benefits. General exclusions include infertility treatment, cosmetic surgery unless caused by accident, weight management, self-referred treatment, alternative treatment and expenses recoverable under other insurance. See the brochure and policy document for full exclusions and limits.
Eligibility and how to apply
The cover eligibility is for persons and legal dependents from birth to 65 years. A spouse aged 18–65 at the time of joining and their own children from birth to 18 years may be included. Persons over 60 require a medical report. The premium table includes an age band of 66 years and above, but eligibility for new applicants in this band must be confirmed with Old Mutual. Existing members may renew for life, subject to renewal review.
